Peindre…Pourquoi ?

A cette question, Bernard Le Quellec répond tout simplement : « on peint  parce que l’on a quelque chose à traduire… »

Cette traduction sera le moteur des œuvres, sans cesse revisitées,  sous-tendues par un seul référent visuel : la nature… « Ne pas oublier la nature! »

Les peintures de l’artiste ont cette « odeur de nature » une figuration en demi-teinte, obligeant le spectateur au jeu du désir ; celui de retrouver les référents…

Trois critères guident le travail de Bernard Le Quellec : le respect de son temps, la sensibilité à ce qui nous entoure et la continuité.

De sa formation aux l’Art appliqués, il a reçu  le sens de rigueur, qui le fait passer avec aisance et talent du portrait dessiné au travail a tempera, des œuvres peintes sur toile aux fresques monumentales. C’est ainsi qu’entre 1999 et 2009, il décore à Pabu, le plafond de la chapelle  Saint-Loup, puis la voûte de l’église paroissiale.

Comment passe-t-on de la ligne à la couleur ? Du dessin à la peinture ?

Cette question a été posé par tous les artistes et très peu, du Quattrocento à nos jours résolvent ce problème…Force est de constater que peu d’artistes concilient les deux manières de créer !

Or, c’est précisément cette capacité qui fait du travail de Bernard Le Qullec une œuvre hors du commun !…

La matière est là, puissante, grave ou sensuelle, oscillant entre empâtements et frémissements, elle joue avec la lumière, elle contribue également à évacuer l’anecdote, suggérant, nuançant la composition et la couleur !…

Pour donner au sujet sa singularité, il construit, s’appuyant sur le thème (la mer, les bateaux, Venise…) puis crée des subtiles variations afin que la particularité du lieu apparaisse. La réalité est le point d’appui, certes, mais d’œuvre en œuvre, elle se décline…» Ni tout à fait la même, ni à fait une autre…» aurait dit Verlaine.…

Une peinture et un artiste, véritables manifestes d’une état artistique actuel: non la peinture de chevalet n’est pas morte !
