Many players do not realize the amount of console sales which take place is rather high just because of its specific purpose to perform one or two annualized franchises. For the individual who buys two games annually for example Mut 21 coins and NBA2K every year, $60x2 for the hours and hours of time put into these matches, the value is super large. The population of people who fall within that category aren't on r/Games complaining about microtransactions and shit like this. They probably don't even possess a reddit account.
I watched an interview for one of the prior call of duty annualized games (such as modern warfare 3 or more so), and the developers essentially said that ordinary players (those ones who play halo,killzone, battle , other shooters) don't buy call of duty games. The majority of folks who perform call of duty is only going to purchase Cod and a sports match. CODX and TIgerwoods 20xx, CODX and Madden20XX, CODX and NBA2kXX, and etc.. And they will do this religiously every year. I have discovered this subset known as Brogamers--kind of the antithesis to those that just play with The Sims/Animal Crossing but in the long run it's a similar spending pattern. The madden criticism which surfaced has nothing to do with your comment. Its an increasing group of individuals that wish to play a good football game, but Ea keeps promoting them the same game without upgrading the motor. This group wants the nfl to either give out multiple instances of likeness rights or offer them exclusively to a different firm that would hopefully make a better match. Not surprising. This is the reason why EA doesn't need to bother ever enhancing anything in most of their manners or fixing any bugs that have been there for years. People will get it no matter whales will dump a lot of money into Cheap Mut 21 coins. 2k has similar problems and the microtransaction stuff is gross but at least that has great gameplay and high tier presentation and they still put in a little more effort. Sports game just have a completely different demographics to games like Witcher 3 and CIV.
