There's Plenty of shift coming to World of Warcraft's next expansion Shadowlands. But among the new zones and features in wow gold games, Blizzard is seeking to fix a number of the fundamental mechanics for gameplay as well. Around the launch of this expansion's alpha , data miners found plans for changes to how area of effect (AoE) abilities could work when Shadowlands drops in the fall--and the immediate reaction from top-level players was exciting.

Data demonstrated that many AoE abilities, especially those for melee classes, had been capped to only be effected on a certain number of enemies. Last night, however, Blizzard appeared to describe its conclusion following an outpouring of voiced concern in the community. At a discussion post, the developer said that as power creeping continues in WoW, the"dominant tactic" for situations in dungeons and questing has been to pull bigger and larger groups of enemies to cleave down at once.

The strategy, while successful, has made the game lose some amount of nuance for it. It's made it hard for several courses to find a part in cases. "In Shadowlands, we're looking at changes that could broaden the field of tactical options, and in the process, more clearly differentiate the strengths of classes in many different AoE situations," Blizzard said. "For instance, we'd like to see Outlaw Rogues or Fury Warriors excel in scenarios using four to five targets in close proximity to one another, while ranged casters such as Frost Mages or Affliction Warlocks perform better in continued harm contrary to groups of five or more goals."

Blizzard also clarified that for most players to buy wow classic gold that don't attempt to fight more than just five or so enemies at a time, they won't feel much change at all to their gameplay. However, with one quick look in the Mythic Dungeon International, it is clear that bigger pulls, especially in timed dungeons, have become the norm.

While the possible changes could be viewed as a means to combat the power creep of AoE over the past 15 years, many pros, such as Maximum, are not pleased with Blizzard's explanation. "I feel like this is just another step along the street of slowing down the game, eliminating snapshotting, and adding GCD's, that will be bridging the difference between good and bad players," he said. Blizzard's decision to make this shift in the Shadowlands alpha comes following the launch of WoW Classic, which is known for having a number of caps to AoE damage for its melee class. In WoW's original iteration classes such as mages were utilized as AoE specialists.
