The top five Path of Exile players out of each course
That is easily the main tip. If you're going poe currency to attempt to get a Demi, you're likely to have to devote a great deal of hours. If you have other obligations during the time period, or can't play extensively due to your workout schedule, you're going to be hard pushed to win. And of course it is impossible, but it'll be very difficult. There's nothing worse than coming first place and just missing a Demi since you could not put in enough hours.
If your plan is to go to get a Demi but either can not or do not need to play 24/7, do not play Softcore. The top five Path of Exile players out of each course in each league get Demis. The Softcore Path of Exile races don't have permadeath, and as a result, they're a total grindfest. The people who can grind the most will win every single moment. I knew I wouldn't be able to commit to that amount of play time, so I picked the Hardcore leagues instead.
On a similar note, it's well worth avoiding the 'favorite' classes. Part of the reason I was able to win 2 Demis in the same race was because I picked two quite unpopular courses--I did not need to compete against teams, and that I was able to move up the ladder immediately.
This is a fact. If you're going to compete in Softcore or standard Hardcore, you'll require a team, or you automatically lose the very best couple slots of every class. A group typically consists of four Path of Exile players--two injury traders, one providing auras, and yet another Path of Exile player cursing the enemies. A group of four will progress at rates much faster than any Royal Path of Exile participant ever could.
To put this in view, at the Turmoil Hardcore race the top team consisted of 3 streamers--Zizaran, Nugiyen, and Havoc--also as a fourth person who did not steam. At the conclusion of day two, they'd shot beyond to buy poe orbs all the other racers, and so were at positions one and two. This is because they did not stop, kept playing, and, obviously, had a fantastic team to assist them on the way.
Just 19 characters hit degree 100, and these men had the ability to do it twice due to getting a terrific team.
If you're going to compete in a league in which teaming up is permitted, you need to be aware that it's likely to be much harder. If this doesn't interest you, and you also do not wish to play against teams, I suggest giving Solo Self-Found a shooter.
