The popular MMORPG has been in existence since 1996 and throughout its history, players have been divided between blue and red and it is only now that things are shifting towards a permanent truce. Players must make the choice of which side to select at the time they create their first character and based on the race they wish to play as. Players are required to stay in the faction they play for in complete isolation from their enemy side, unless they are fighting in PvP or passing the enemy in neutral zones. Guilds are tied to a faction, and the only way to switch factions is to make an entirely new character, or pay real money for a change in your race.
Members of different factions have been prevented from understanding one another because the game's bots will translate text into a scrambled form to appear as if the other side is using a foreign language. This is a wonderful feature from a lore point of view however, many players are tired of the ceaseless fighting and polarization of culture. But, the concept of faction identity is a key factor in interaction with players for a long time It's difficult create a bridge over the chasm.
In in essence, when this change is implemented to WoW's WOTLK Classic Patch 9.2.5 in the near future, players will be able to choose which group search tool includes members from the opposing faction as well.
