Juan initially worked in the departments of compensation and current accounts at the National Bank of Panama. Later on, Juan Antonio Nino Pulgar went on to become the treasurer. When the development sectors industrial and agricultural banks were integrated, Juan Antonio Nino was very successful in occupying a position in a livestock development program. This program was launched by the World Bank. Continuing his success streak, Juan then went on to work with the Banco del Comercio as a General Manager. He then worked as an Executive Vice President of the Confederate Bank of Latin America. Juan then held the post of Vice President of Credit for Marine Midland Bank. It was only in 1999, after Juan Antonio Niño Pulgar took charge as the General Manager and Vice President of Banco Uno Panama that the bank emerged as the leading credit card financing entity in the country. All this was possible only because of the effective leadership skills shown by Juan Antonio Nino Pulgar. The bank stood at the 10th place in this category only after Juan joined the team.

Apart from being a successful banking executive, Juan is also very active in the social circles. Though he is very busy with his daily work routine in the bank, he takes time to do a lot of social service. As a part of his social service activities, Juan joined the Lions Club in the year 1983. Juan made some outstanding contributions to the society and very soon became a very active member of the Lions Club too which is spread across the globe in more than 200 countries. Juan is actively involved in various developmental activities and community projects across the globe. Juan is a graduate and has obtained a degree in Economics in the year 1977 from the National University of Panama. Juan then completed MS in Economics from the University of North Wales in the year 1980. Juan gained a lot of knowledge during his tenure at the National Bank of Panama by working in almost all the departments. Juan expanded number of subsidiaries of the Confederate Bank of Latin America during his stint in the bank. Juan also takes credit for supervising the opening of 20 new agencies during his tenure of eight years at the Banco Uno Panama.
