Many football fans experienced a dramatic day on Sunday, July 11, as the final match of the Euro 2020 tournament saw the Italian men's national team defeat the England men's national team in a tense round of penalties.

The announcement from Electronic Arts (EA) that the much-anticipated FIFA 22 game was now available for pre-order may have helped to soften the blow for England's gamers.

Several hours before the Euro final, EA released the highly anticipated Official Reveal Trailer for the new edition, citing new HyperMotion technology as one of the many new features set to enliven the beautiful game in stunning gameplay quality across several consoles.

While Kylian Mbappé, the star of Paris Saint-Germain and France, graces the front cover of FIFA 22 for the second year in a row, Electronic Arts also revealed the first few names of the FIFA Ultimate Team heroes who will appear in the new game.

When will FIFA 22 be released?

FIFA 22 will be released worldwide on October 1 for the PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Origin and Steam, Stadia, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to a recent announcement from EA.

FIFA 22 will allow players to compete in top competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League, Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga Santander, CONMEBOL Libertadores, and CONMEBOL Sudamericana. The game boasts over 17,000 players across more than 700 teams, 90 stadiums, and 30+ leagues.

What are the new features in FIFA 22's gameplay?

HyperMotion technology, which combines EA's machine learning algorithmic technology with advanced match capture software to create seamless and responsive gameplay, is expected to be the game's most prominent feature, and will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia consoles.

The first-ever motion capture of 22 professional football players playing intensely was combined with an exclusive machine learning algorithm to recreate the tangible feeling of football's raw, tactical nature, allowing players to enjoy the beloved football video game even more.

FIFA 22 also includes a new goalkeeping gameplay update, a Create a Club feature in Career mode, and the long-rumored addition of hero cards to the Fifa Ultimate Team mode.

Who are the players on the FIFA 22 Ultimate Team?

EA has teased the FIFA Ultimate Team heroes lineup by releasing nine initial names in order to help build anticipation for the game's autumn launch.

For those who are already familiar with FIFA's Icons, the FUT hero cards pay homage to some of the world's most famous former players, as well as the period and league in which they were performing at the pinnacle of their profession.
