  • Acrylic, also known as polymethyl methacrylate or plexiglass, has become a common, safe, and non-toxic material in recent years. Acrylic can be classified into numerous types due to its varied performance, colors, and visual effects that enable it to meet ever-changing requirements.

    1. Acrylic board is classified as transparent colored acrylic panels, translucent board (which includes dyeing boards and transparent colored acrylic sheet), colored acrylic board, and color board (which includes black and white and colored acrylic);

    2. It can be classified as impact resistant plate, ultraviolet resistant plate, ordinary plate, or special plate, which includes high impact resistant plate, flame retardant plate, frosted plate, metal effect plate, high wear resistant plate, and light guide plate, among others.

    3. Depending on the manufacturing method, acrylic plates are classified as casting plates or extrusion plates.

    A: Casting plate: extremely high molecular weight, high stiffness, strength, and chemical resistance. This type of plate is distinguished by small batch production, unmatched color system and surface texture effect versatility, and comprehensive product specifications that allow it to be used for a variety of special purposes.

    B: Extrusion plate: Extrusion plate has a lower molecular weight, poorer mechanical properties, and greater flexibility than casting plate. This function, however, is advantageous for bending and hot formation, and the softening time is short. It is advantageous for all types of rapid vacuum formation while working with large sheets. Simultaneously, extrusion plate's thickness tolerance is lower than that of casting plate (Casting: 1.8mm-300mm, extrusion: 0.5-12mm). Due to the fact that the extrusion plate is a mass automatic production, it is difficult to change the color and specification, limiting the product specification diversity.

    4. Acrylic also has a material recycling board constructed from recycled acrylic scraps. The regenerated MMA (methyl methacrylate) monomer is obtained following thermal degradation and is then polymerized chemically. Pure MMA monomer can be obtained again following a stringent method, and there is no difference in consistency between it and the current synthetic monomer. However, the purity of the degradable monomer produced is low, and the plate's quality and performance after formation are extremely poor.

    Conclusion: the extrusion plate is made from granular raw materials that are extruded after being dissolved at a high temperature, while the casting plate is made directly from MMA monomer (liquid). Despite its clean and smooth appearance, the extrusion plate is capable of completing polymerization during the molding of granular raw materials. Since its structure and efficiency are compromised when processed into boards, it is unsuitable for outdoor identification items and is only suitable for indoor products such as crystal characters or product brackets.

    Additionally, since the majority of extruded plates lack an anti-UV coating, their outdoor service life is significantly shorter than that of cast plates; the color fades steadily and it is easy to embrittle to the point of cracking. Casting plate is a form of structural polymerization that occurs during the plate processing process when an ultraviolet absorber with a high intensity and UV function is applied. Its outdoor service life exceeds five years, if not ten years, and its color remains as vibrant as fresh.

    Natural acrylic board (classified by thickness) 1 millimeter, 2 millimeters, 3 millimeters, 4 millimeters, 5 millimeters, 6 millimeters, 8 millimeters, 10 millimeters, 12 millimeters, 15 millimeters, 18 millimeters, 20 millimeters, 25 millimeters, 30 millimeters, 40 millimeters, 50 millimeters, 60 millimeters, 80 millimeters, 100 millimeters

    The board is typically 1200 * 2400mm, 1250 * 245mm, 1500 * 2000mm, 2000 * 3000mm, and 2050 * 3050mm in size and area.
